Operation Transformation at Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure

Welcome to Operation Transformation @ Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure.

Join with our four leaders as they embark on a new exercise and fitness regime under the guidance of certified trainers from Donegal Sports Partnership, Russell Porter and Maria McGill, who will oversee the 8-week programme, as well as a community dietician from

the HSE, Annemarie Lee.

Our four leaders are Letterkenny chef Martin Anderson of Sonder, Dunfanaghy woman Amanda Witherow of Amanda Witherow Therapies (located at Donegal Physiotherapy), Glenswilly native Aisling McDaid of the LYIT and DPD delivery man, Benny Sweeney.

We’re also giving you the opportunity to get involved. A number of local gyms including Donegal Physiotherapy, Speer Performance, Aoife McGill Personal Training and Motiv8 Fitness are supporting the initiative with free exercise classes, allowing members of the public to train alongside each of the four leaders. There are two classes per week happening over the course of the 8-week programme. You can also join the leaders in a series of weekend walks taking place throughout Letterkenny.

The MMS OT programme is run in partnership with Donegal Sports Partnership and classes are free of charge but places are limited to 30 and participants must register via eventbrite (search Operation Transformation) to attend. Our first week’s classes with Aoife McGill booked out almost immediately* such is the demand!, but we’ll be bringing you plenty more opportunities to exercise over the next 8 weeks.  (*only those who have registered in advance will be admitted to the class).

As part of the Operation Transformation series, the first National Walks Day takes place this Saturday, 13th at 11am leaving from An Danlann at the LYIT and everyone is welcome to come along…

Every weekend after that, for the course of the 8 week programme, Maria McGill of DSP will host a weekly walk with the leaders. This is free of charge and open to the public. Following next Saturday’s event, the next walk will happen on Sunday 21st Jan. The meeting point for this walk is the main entrance to LK Town Park, leaving at 10am.

In addition to the classes, we’ll also be hosting weekly fitness talks and events in-store. Aoife McGill will host the first of these on Weds 10th January at 7pm and people can register their attendance via an event brite link here….
